TREATMENT OPTIONS

When connected and commissioned, select the “Treatment Options” and the following screen will offer three Treatment Cycle options. The operator enters the hours into the PLC screen for those functions required. If there are no hours entered against the option, it will not perform it.

Treatment Selection Options

When connecting to the transformer, it is normal to;

  1. Analyse for 24 – 48 hours
  2. Degas for 48 hours
  3. Filter for 30 to 50 hours before auto Filter Re-Dry

Analysis Cycle

Analysis can be set for between 0 to 999 hours. Oil is drawn from the transformer into the Trojan past the water in oil sensor and returned to the transformer unfiltered. At 30 minute intervals the oil temperature, relative saturation and water in oil ppm are recorded. The operator manually records the top oil and winding temperatures for accurate water in cellulose calculations, or a top oil sensor can be supplied if requested.

Degassing Cycle

Degassing can be set for between 0 to 99 hours. Only 85% vacuum – 15 kpa is used which does not damage the oil like high vacuum. Water and particles are filtered from the oil. Degassing is recommended from time to time to prevent gas saturation, and remove oxygen from the oil to prevent oxidation.

Water Filtering - Filter Re-Dry cycles

Filtering can be set for between 0 to 99 hours. The Trojan Filter’s the oil for the number of hours the operator enters into the PLC, and stores the water in the Filters.  At the end of the hours the flow of oil from the transformer stops while the Trojan automatically Re-Dries the Filters. After the Filter Re-Dry, the Trojan returns to the Filtering Cycle for the selected hours and then Re-Dry’s. These cycles continue until the Trojan is stopped. The volume of water removed from the transformer is recorded at each Re-Dry.  Re-Drying the Filters significantly improves the water removal efficiency.

Data recorded during all cycles –

  1. Month – Day – Hour – Minute
  2. Inlet oil temperature
  3. Oil Relative saturation – Inlet & Return
  4. Water in Oil PPM – Inlet and Return
  5. Water removed from Filters during Re-Dry
  6. Trojan operating pressures
